Southend City Council CSAS

Southend City Council have been Community Safety Accredited since 2010 and have always had a very close working relationship with the Community Policing Team.

The Southend Community Safety Team have twelve accredited officers working in the partnership Hub alongside the CPT and other agencies and have done so for several years.

Southend City Council regularly use their Community Safety Powers and it helps them to feel supported and enables them to have authority to take positive action when needed. Southend Council and in particular their Community Safety Team use every opportunity to embrace CSAS and at the recent yearly CSAS awards, they received the award for CSAS Organisation of the year 2024. In addition, their Community Safety Team were runners up with regards to their work with respect to CSAS and Southend Council received their long service Award for being with CSAS over 10 Years.

The managers of the team meet regularly with the District Commander and CPT inspector, and they view the relationship between them as close and they feel well supported. The Team are represented at the daily Police led 09.30 briefings with other partners and get involved with joint policing patrols and initiatives. They do attend other meetings as required regarding policing and issues in Southend.  


Southend City Council embrace the Key Performance data and can be relied upon to submit data every three months which cover their joint policing activity, Issue of FPNs and CPN/CPWs, the briefings and intelligence sharing aspect of CSAS as well as the joint community events and policing Operation they participate in. 

Daniel Debond the Community safety Manager for Southend City Council said: “CSAS accreditation instils confidence that we are working in partnership with Essex Police to make a difference in our communities and that staff have been assessed to be a suitable person working for a fit and proper organisation. 

"CSAS accreditation is seen as a positive by the public we interact with, and the public expects a certain standard from Accredited Persons. 

"The public like seeing that Local Authorities are working in partnership with Essex Police as this makes them feel more confident when approaching their Local Community Safety Partnership.”
