Tendring District Council CSAS

Tendring District Council have been CSAS accredited since 2007 and Jenny Brouard the enforcement and Community Safety coordinator was previously an employee from Essex Police having been involved with the running of the accreditation Scheme and as such is fully versed on its principles.

Tendring Council currently have 28 accredited staff who work from a variety of roles within the council. 

Tendring Council have always had a good relationship with the police and previously operated within the Clacton Police Station Partnership Hub. In 2022 it was relocated within the Council offices which is where the team now operate.  Tendring are 100% behind CSAS and providing what support they can to the Police and Community.  The Accredited staff feel more confident having been given training and over the last year since Jenny has joined the team the staff have now received more training and feel more confident and reassured in their role and as such providing a better service. 

Tendring Council have an open-door relationship with police and partners and feel they can get support when they need it. The Team has a standing meeting with Police including Local Tasking, Problem solvers meetings, LRO Board and the Strategic Coordination Group.

Tendring supply KPI Data and it reflects their community ambassadors undertaking joint patrols with PCSOs in the town centre and joint patrols with Operation Dial and Op Stronghold and OP Lester (ASB reduction and NTE patrols). They have been involved with over 50 community events supporting local policing over the year including street meets  and community forums as well as larger events like the Clacton Airshow and Night time economy patrols.

Jenny Brouard BEM when asked about what CSAS meant to Tendring said: "The value if CSAS is so important as we can support Essex Police with low end ASB using not only our Council Powers but also our CSAS Powers. Last May we also now have powers to support with Traffic Management again supporting our community. This came into force when Darren O Neil and I stopped traffic when a lady fell over in Jaywick into the road and whilst we were waiting for the Ambulance and Police, we were able to divert traffic and support the lady that was hurt. We have supported many joint patrols and operations which show the public that we work in partnership and the value of the scheme.”
